I really liked Storm Front, the first book in the series, and I was really looking forward to this one, but I am a little bit disappointed. It wasn't terrible, and there were parts of the story that were really enjoyable, but the pacing in this book is just bad. There seems to be a lot more action in this book, but the details (dear Harry, you're low on magic/energy, I get it, please stop telling me every other second) and some of the lengthy description just take me clean out of the action.
If Butcher (or his editor, really) could have worked on the pacing, I believe it would have been a much better book. I'm hoping the series picks up again, and I believe it does from other reviews that I've heard. The ideas and the story are good, the characters are mostly pretty good (I get a little tired of too much chauvinism and sexism), so I'm not ready to throw in the towel by any means.
